What have you been up to since WRHS: After graduating in 1976 I moved to Farmington to work and beginning the fall semester attended San Juan College in Farmington for one year then went on to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorao earning a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Human Services in 1982. Then...worked one year in Farmington, moved to Montana for awhile and eventually moved back to the southwest and currently live in Farmington. I have one child, a 19 year old daughter who is currently attending San Juan College. I also work here at the college as a Coordinator of Adult Basic Education and have been employed here for 16 1/2 years...soon to retire (6 1/2 years to go...yeah!!)
My parents also reside here in Farmington; my sister, Amanda currently lives in Second Mesa, Arizona and my brother, Nolan, past away about 5 years ago.
Since moving away from the rez, I don't see very many classmates or those who I grew up with and it would be nice to hear from.
Your Favorite Memory of WRHS Enjoyed watching the Scouts play basketball because they were so awesome....

What have you been up to since WRHS: I graduated from Window Rock High School in 1972. After graduation, I attended Central Arizona College in Coolidge on a baseball scholarship. I majored in Mass Communications-Journalism. I earned by Associate in Arts Degree and completed my junior college baseball career in 1974. I had an offer to play baseball at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, but I decided to work for 1 1/2-years. I returned to school in the fall of 1976. I enrolled at Arizona State University in Tempe. I continued my major in Mass Communications-Journalism and a minor in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. I worked for two years as an intern at the Arizona State University Sports Information Director's office on campus. I earned by Bachelor's of Science Degree in 1979. I was asked to return to the Navajo Nation to work for the Navajo Times newspaper in Window Rock. I began working professionally in the summer of 1979. I developed a sport page for the Navajo Times and continue that today. I worked with the Navajo Times until February 1987, when then-Chairman Peter MacDonald and Staff shut down the Navajo Times. I began work in late February 1987 at Window Rock High School. Utilizing my college degree, I was hired as an educator and coach. I taught at Tse Ho Tso Middle School and Window Rock High School as a social studies, English and Physical Education/Health teacher. I coached cross-country and baseball at Window Rock High School. I began taking classes toward my Master's Degree while teaching and coaching. I stayed at Window Rock School District until spring of 1994, when I resigned. I earned by Master's Degree in spring of 1994 in Substance Abuse Counseling from Arizona State University. I was asked to return to writing, so I returned to the Navajo Times, where I am today. From 1980 to 1986, I promoted area high school athletes when I established All-Star Games between the states of Arizona and New Mexico. After I left the newspaper in 1987, the All-Star Games faded away and later others re-established them. It again faded away. Others established an All-Star Game, named Tour of Legends. The founders are no longer in the area and I am now directing the All-Star girl's and boy's basketball games. The previous All-Star Games I directed included football, boys and girls basketball and cross-country.
I am not married. I divorced in 1979. I have one son, Patrick Orin Foster, who is 26-years old. I have no grandchildren. My son graduated last summer from DeVry University in Phoenix
Your Favorite Memory of WRHS My favorite memory of the 'Rock was my junior year in 1971 when we finished as Class A boy's basketball State Runners-Up. We played the Holbrook Roadrunners for the State Championship game at Veterans' Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. That year Holbrook beat us five times. Each time we played them, we got closer and closer. It was an honor to play with my brother, Chuck Foster, Wade Montgomery, Glen and Floyd Haven, Jimmy Skeet, just to name a few.
My brother, Chuck Foster, went on to academic and athletic fame. He was inducted into the National Native American Athletic Hall of Fame in 1978. He was a 14-time All-American in cross-country and track at Central Arizona College and University of Arizona. He earned his Bachelor's, Master's, Educational Specialist and PhD. Degrees. He is currently as Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer/Principal in California.
My two other brothers, Leonard Foster and Larry P. Foster, also earned Bachelor's Degrees. Leonard from Colorado State University and Larry from UCLA.

What have you been up to since WRHS: After graduation, June 1st, 1972, I worked for the summer painting the classrooms at WRHS. That fall I went to college, came back after the spring semester for a summer job at Wheatfields Lake. In the summer of 1973 I found my place of employment in the field of aviation. 30 years later, with school, training and experience, I now work for Southwest Airlines. I've been working and living in the Dallas area for the past three years. Married and divorced twice, I'm single and learning to live with that...hmm,caveat? In a commited relationship with my present girlfriend of 7 years. I have four kids, two girls and two boys. My oldest son has a daughter at almost two years old. So, yes, I'm a grandfather. I guess that about covers it in a snapshot.

What have you been up to since WRHS: After 36 years, moved from Window Rock to Farmington, NM in January 2003. Enjoying a one-year term as a Volunteer In Service To America (VISTA) in the AmeriCorps program. Plan to use the grant award to get a Masters in something or other. Four kids, two out of the house; two still in. Keeping in touch with family and friends.
Your Favorite Memory of WRHS Not so much "favorite", but the time the chior went on a field trip to camp Assayi and we filmed the trip. Well, Clara Fredenberg and friends, decided to get my hair wet at the lake. I was filmed flailling my arms and kicking up water while running after them in the shallow part of the lake. The film seems to exaggerate my (dyed)bright red and frizzy hair. The joy I get now is knowing most people who want curly/kinky hair have to pay big bucks for a perm and I don't.

What have you been up to since WRHS: Attending Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, MT. Majoring in Dental Assisting Technology. Working on getting my Associates Certificate. So, I can continue on to be a Dental Hygienist.
Your Favorite Memory of WRHS My memorable event was the playing in the Honor Band. Mr. Tuttle was our Instructor. He was the greatest Instructor I've ever played for. All the games we played at. I think we never been thanked by the fans, or the team for being there to play for them. That was the bad thing about it all. Never being appreciated for all the hard work we put in just to represent the school.
Messages to other Classmates: Just hang in there. Keep to your studies. When you get to college, your going to use everything that you learned when you were in high school. I wish I paid more attention in my classes. Now I have to start all over again. That just makes me wish I paid more attention back in High School, thanks, GO SCOUTS!!! #1 Fan always

What have you been up to since WRHS: I graduated from ASU with a BA and MA in education. Have been a teacher, coach and administrator for over 25 years at a variety of schools. Have had a pretty good baskeball coaching career in Arizona. I have been married for 26 years and have three boys. They are all seeking a post secondary degree in various fields and are doing very "gooder". I do have a son that is married to a WRHS grad and they have a son. Yep! That means that I am a grandfather and enjoying it very much! Right now I am located at Hopi Jr/Sr High School where I have been for the last seven years!
Your Favorite Memory of WRHS Playing basketball for the Scouts in 1971 and playing for the state championship at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. Unfortunately, we came up short but I honestly feel that we began the fine tradition of Window Rock basketball. Also teaching and coaching at WRHS!
Messages to other Classmates: Sure would be nice to hear from my classmates from 1971! Where the heck are you guys?
Comments about this Web Page: What a pleasant surprise to find this site in the Gallup Independent when reading about an upcoming class reunion in Gilbert! Good luck with your endeavor!
